Hybrid = Here to Stay
In the post-Covid area, organizations are adjusting to a diverse work landscape and embracing various operational models. Some have shifted to remote work, others have resumed full-time office work, while others are adopting a hybrid approach.
As reflected in Gallup’s extensive research on the topic (Wiger et al, 2023), employees are increasingly seeking flexibility in their work arrangements. There’s been a notable decrease in fully on-site work, and over half of the employees polled prefer and expect a hybrid work schedule.
Meanwhile, Glassdoor’s 2024 Workplace Trends report (Terranzas et al, 2023) highlights employers’ frustration with their employees’ reluctance to return to the workplace. The report reveals a growing disconnect between management expectations and employee desires.
Hybrid schedules – offering a compromise between employer and employee preferences – continue to gain favor with both groups. In-depth surveys by Fooda and Gallup shed light on the hybrid work trend:
Endurance of Hybrid Work
A majority (61%) view hybrid work as a lasting trend, a sentiment echoed by 80% of remote-capable employees who anticipate continuing in a hybrid or fully remote arrangement.
Flexible On-Site Attendance Policies
Many companies are employing a blend of voluntary and policy-driven approaches to on-site attendance, steering clear of rigid, full-week on-site mandates to accommodate employee preferences.
