The Challenge
Walmart’s corporate office spaces play a crucial role in supporting the retailer’s dynamic enterprise by creating an environment where teams can collaborate to drive innovation and growth. However, with thousands of employees and visitors passing through two expansive offices in California, maintaining consistent cleanliness posed a significant and ongoing challenge.
Recognizing the limitations of traditional cleaning methods, which were often labor-intensive and disruptive, Walmart sought a partner that could deliver efficient and sustainable cleaning solutions without interfering with employees’ tasks and workflows.
The Solution
As the janitorial service provider for these two facilities, Flagship recognized Walmart’s unique cleaning needs and leveraged its recent partnership with SoftBank Robotics to deploy three models of cutting-edge autonomous floor cleaners.
These state-of-the-art machines are designed to clean large areas with minimal oversight, enabling staff to focus on hard-to-reach areas. To ensure precise and consistent cleaning results, Flagship launched a pilot program at both facilities to test each floor machine and develop an optimal cleaning plan.
Flagship tailored the floor machines’ pathways to focus on areas that require more regular cleaning, such as hallways and common spaces. Additionally, Flagship adapted its cleaning routine to align with employee schedules and office workflows, maximizing efficiency while minimizing disruption.
The Outcome
SoftBank’s autonomous floor cleaners work seamlessly with Flagship Intuition to provide real-time insights into machine runtime and square footage cleaned. This data empowers Flagship to fine-tune cleaning routines, maximizing efficiency and ensuring a consistently clean environment across Walmart’s office spaces. This technology also frees staff from time-consuming tasks, allowing them to focus on more detail-oriented work, such as wiping down furniture, dusting , and sanitizing high-touch areas.
Flagship continues to adapt its cleaning program to scale with Walmart’s evolving needs, with plans to introduce a larger number of cobots and new models across additional sites.
